GS Smith’s CAESURA series is rapidly becoming one of the most vital avant garde readings in Great Britain
CAESURA is the voice event of the only real literary avant garde in Edinburgh. Have a pint, but it may be spilled.
Every month Goodnight Press brings CAESURA to Edinburgh: an incendiary, experimental and eclectic night of stripped-bare poetry, spoken word and performance. Since the first event in March 2012 CAESURA has featured over 70 performers and has taken place in seven different venues across Edinburgh.
The programme has featured some of the best innovative writers and performers from across the UK, as well as locally, including John Calder, Peter Manson, SJ Fowler, Gerry Loose, Martin Belk, Tom Jenks, Sandra Alland, Dylan Nyoukis, Alec Finlay, Colin Herd, Dorothy Alexander, Justin Katko, Ryan Van Winkle, Jow Lindsay and nick-e melville. Full list of performers and galleries of each event to be found in past events.
CAESURA is currently held on the second Friday of the month from 7pm at The Artisan Bar. In March CAESURA #21 will take place as part of the programme of the Hidden Door Festival, inhabiting a disused vault on East Market Street. From April CAESURA will take place at Summerhall.
